The Daytona 500 is one of the largest NASCAR races in the United States. It is a 500 mile long Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series motor race that takes place at the Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida. The winner of the race is presented with the Harley J. Earl trophy in Victory Lane. The winning car is displayed in race winning condition for one year at the Daytona 500 Experience, a museum that is adjacent to the speedway. This event attracts more than 20 million viewers per year and is sometimes called the Superbowl of Stock Car Racing or the Great American Race! The Daytona 500 is regarded as the most important and prestigious race on the NASCAR calendar. It is also the series' first race of the year. This is virtually unique in sports, which tend to have championships or other major events at the end of the season rather than the start. This event takes place on the Sunday before the third Monday in February, also known as Presidents Day.
Austin Dillon is an American Professional Stock Car Racing Driver. He competes full time in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series, driving the No. 3 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 for Richard Childress Racing, and part-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, driving the No. 3 Chevrolet Camaro for RCR. Dillion won Truck Series championship in 2011, and the Nationwide Series championship in 2013. But his biggest win of all was the Daytona 500 in February of 2018! This win qualifies him for the 2018 playoffs.
For the past 13 years, an Assignment Desk crew has been lucky enough to film the event for Fox Sports. Beaute Speciale has done the hair and makeup for Daytona 500 for the past 13 years. We are so thankful that Fox Sports has trusted this amazingly talented team for the past 13 years. This year we were lucky enough to work with and do hair and makeup for Charlize Theron, Peyton Manning and Danica Patrick. According to our hair and makeup crew members, “It is always such a pleasure to work with them.”
